A Message from the Executive Director

Last year was a time of returning for Michigan College Access Network. After a challenging year of responding to immediate needs in 2020, it was time to reassess and return to a semblance of normalcy. We returned to our office space in summer of 2021, when we were able to gather safely after more than a year of remote work. We returned to hosting our annual conference, which was a sold-out, in-person event that brought together more than 450 champions for college access and success. And yet, we never quite returned to the way things were before — we returned forward.

Instead of falling back into the familiar, we used the changes of the last year to evaluate what needed to change foundationally in order to build a stronger future for Michigan’s students. We expanded our network and established new partnerships, ultimately working to address systemic inequities that are always present, but that the pandemic exposed. With this refocused commitment, we are inventing new solutions for foundational problems, and we invite you to join us.
